Rebuilding Together is a nation-wide non-profit organization that provides critical home repairs, modifications and improvements for low-income homeowners. We rebuild the homes and lives for the elderly, people with disabilities, veterans, and families with children at no cost to those served. We do carpentry, electrical work, painting, home safety modifications such as ADA and handrails or wheelchair ramps, and debris removal. Our goal is to help others remain in a safe, secure, and independent environment.
To be eligible for consideration for 2017 National Rebuild Day (or projects throughout the 2016-2017 year), the applicant must:
- Be the owner and occupant of the property
- Be low-income
- Be unable to either financially and/or physically complete repairs themselves
- Live in a property located in the City of Portland
Rebuilding Together Portland selects about 45-50 homes for repair during the entire year. In addition, we help 6-10 non-profit organizations. Rebuilding Together Portland organizes over 1,700 volunteers from all walks of life to unite on the last Saturday in April each year to complete roughly $1,250,000 worth of improvements to the community on that one day. These efforts are made possible with a 13 member Board of Directors, financial contributions, and the efforts of over 2,500 volunteers yearly.
