About Us
Rebuilding Together is a nation-wide organization and the leading one that provides critical home repairs, modifications and improvements for America’s low-income homeowners. We rebuild the homes and lives of the nation’s most vulnerable homeowners and families at no cost to those served. Our work extends beyond the four walls of a home to impact the health and vibrancy of entire communities.
To be eligible for consideration for 2014 National Rebuild Day (or projects throughout the 2013 year), the applicant must:
- Be the owner and occupant of the property
- Be low income (including but not limited to: elderly, disabled, families with children, veterans)
- Be unable both financially and physically to complete repairs themselves
- Live in a property located in the City of Portland
Rebuilding Together Portland screens approximately 200 low income homeowners and selects about 50-55 homes for repair during the entire year. In addition, 5-8 non-profit organizations benefit from our services as well. Rebuilding Together Portland organizes over 1,700 volunteers from all walks of life to unite on the last Saturday in April each year to complete equivalent to $1,250,000 worth of improvements to the community on that one day. Other individual projects are performed throughout the year. These efforts are made possible with a 17 member Board of Directors, financial contributions, and the efforts of over 2,500 volunteers yearly.
